Terriers Fall To Wildcats, 3-0

BOSTON - Despite a nine-save performance by senior goalkeeper Matt Smith (Lanchester, England), the Boston University men's soccer team was shut out by New Hampshire, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at UNH's Lewis Field.
Matt Glode came off the bench to score two goals for the Wildcats (9-3-2, 3-1-2).
The Terriers (7-5-3, 2-2-1) fell behind early when Glode netted his first goal of the game and the eventual game-winner at 36:54 off a feed from Eric Massi.
New Hampshire held an 11-10 advantage on shots in the first half.
Glode scored his second goal of the game off a rebound of a shot by Nicola Chicco at 75:02 in the second half to give New Hampshire a 2-0 lead.
Chicco scored the Wildcats' third goal off a long feed from Brendan Hankard with less than three minutes remaining in the game.
New Hampshire goalkeeper Mike Vignola stopped six shots in his third shutout of the season.
Freshman midfielder Jamie Johnson (Brisbane, Australia) led the Terriers with four shots and two shots on goal.
With the loss, the Terriers drop to sixth-place in the America East standings with three games remaining in the regular season. The Terriers host fifth-place Hartford on Wednesday and first-place Vermont on Sunday. B.U. closes out its regular-season at eighth-place Stony Brook on Nov. 5.
