BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Boston University men's soccer team (0-2-0) fell short to Northeastern (2-1-0) on Friday night in a 2-1 decision at Parsons Field.

The Huskies struck first in the 31st minute, putting themselves on the board with a goal by Will Schmidt. With just 8.5 seconds left in the first half, the Terriers took a corner which allowed sophomore Anthony Harper to chest the ball to senior Lapo Romieri, who evened the score.

Entering the final 45 minutes, the Terriers were aggressive in their approach, outshooting the Huskies 4-2 in the first 10 minutes of the half. The rivals went back and forth before Northeastern took back a lead it wouldn't surrender in the 77th minute with a goal from Tate Duax, assisted by Schmidt.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Within the first minute of the game, junior Dylan Williams took the first shot of the game, which was saved by Northeastern.
The Terriers maintained steady possession until the Huskies attempted their first shot at the 9' mark, followed by another shot less than a minute later which was saved by senior Ben Alexander.
Northeastern's Will Schmidt was assessed a yellow card at the 14' mark.
In the 17^th minute, junior Ben Bagshaw gave the Terriers another scoring opportunity from just outside the box but missed high and wide.
Bagshaw and the Terriers continued to press offensively, with the junior having a shot on goal at the '21 mark before Romieri followed up with a shot on goal of his own. Bagshaw had another scoring opportunity in the 24^th minute.
The Huskies began putting pressure on BU's defense, with Alexander making saves at the 26' and 29' marks. They fought to regain possession after a BU goal kick, then scored at the 31' mark after Schmidt aimed a shot for the top left center of the net.
Northeastern's Anthony Rapo got a yellow card in the 32^nd minute. Alexander made his fourth save of the night less than a minute later off a shot by Northeastern's Bryce Flowers.
BU earned back-to-back corner kicks, taking the second one with less than 30 seconds left in the first half. Junior Pharis Petrica launched the ball in the middle of the box, which allowed Harper to connect with Romieri, who evened the score at 1-1 with just 8.5 seconds to go in the half.
Freshman Chinelo Robinson opened second half action with a shot on goal at the 52' mark, which was saved by the Huskies.
The Terriers kept the Huskies' defense on edge with back-to-back shots on goal by Romieri and senior Andrea Di Blasio at the 54' mark.
In the 61^st minute, Alexander made his first save of the half and his fifth of the night off a bottom center shot by Northeastern. Five minutes later, he stopped a shot by Northeastern's Kortay Koc.
Northeastern regained the lead in the 78^th minute when Tate Duax launched the ball into the bottom left of the net off an assist from Schmidt.
The Terriers had their last opportunity to even the score when freshman Ryan Ghajar launched a shot aimed for the top center of the net, but it was saved by the Huskies.

STATS

Northeastern had the only two yellow cards of the game.
The Terriers and Huskies each had seven shots in the first half, but Northeastern outshot BU 16-12 overall.
BU had three corner kicks to Northeastern's one.
The Huskies had nine saves while BU had six.

GAME NOTES

Romieri's goal marked his third as a Terrier and BU's first score of the season. Harper's assist marked the first of his career.
Alexander's six saves mark a new single-game best in his three years at BU.
