Terriers Fall To First-Place Retrievers, 1-0

Baltimore, MD - The Boston University men's soccer team had its seven-game unbeaten streak snapped by first-place UMBC, as the Terriers were shutout, 1-0, by the Retrievers on Saturday, Oct. 25.
With its first conference loss of the season, B.U. falls to 8-6-3 overall and 3-1-3 in America East action. UMBC extends its unbeaten streak to nine games, improving to 10-1-5 overall and 5-0-3 in league play.
Off a feed from Michael Joseph, Derek McElliott scored the game-winning goal for the Retrievers just 5:22 into the game.
UMBC's Andy Marchica made four saves, all in the second half, to earn the shutout victory.
Freshman goalkeeper Zach Riffett (Brenham, TX) made five saves for the Terriers.
UMBC held a 12-8 advantage in shots, while the two teams were even in corner kicks at 7-7.
Sophomore midfielder Sedrick Chin (St. Mary's, Jamaica) led the Terriers with three shots.
On deck, B.U. hosts America East foe Stony Brook on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 7:00 p.m. A victory for the Terriers would secure both a spot in the America East Tournament and a 19th consecutive winning season for head coach Neil Roberts.
