BOSTON - Sophomore midfielder Sedrick Chin (St. Mary's Jamaica) scored two goals and sophomore goalkeeper Chad Comroe (Dallas, TX) made four saves while leading the Boston University men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over America East rival New Hampshire at Nickerson Field on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
With their first conference win and first win at home this season, the Terriers improve to 6-5-1 overall and 1-0-1 in league play. The Wildcats drop to 6-4-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the conference.
After controlling possession for the opening minutes of the game, B.U. had its first scoring chance as freshman forward Anders Ostli (Fredrickstead, Norway) fired a shot at the UNH net in the 13th minute of play. Wildcat goalkeeper Mike Vignola made the initial save with his body, but senior midfielder Alan McNamara (Woodview Raheem, Ireland) blasted the rebound into the top right corner of the net at 12:50.
Less than two minutes later, senior midfielder Andrew Dorman (Flintshire, Wales) kicked a cross into the box that Chin sent into the bottom right corner of the net at 14:02. Dorman's assist, his eighth of the season and 33nd of his career, moved him into sole possession of second place on B.U.'s career assists list.
Late in the second half, Chin sprinted down the center of the field, passed three Wildcat defenders, and sent a shot into the bottom left corner of the net at 85:09.
Comroe posted his third shutout of the season while stopping four shots. He improved his overall season record to 5-1-1.
Vignola made a game-high seven saves in the losing effort.
In an extremely physical match, B.U. and UNH were both whistled for 11 fouls. The Wildcats had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks while the Terriers had a 13-9 advantage in shots.
