September 6, 2003 | Men's Soccer
Storrs, CT - Freshman Anders Ostli scored the game-winning goal in the 102nd minute of play to lead the Boston University men's soccer team to a 2-1 overtime victory over Georgetown University in the second round of the UConn/adidas Classic at Marrone Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 6.
It was the first victory of the season for the Terriers, who improve to 1-3-0. The Hoyas drop to 1-2-1.
After failing to score a goal in each of the last two games, B.U. was able to get on the board early in the first half. Senior Andrew Dorman (Flintshire, Wales) fired a shot and junior Erik Evjen (Askim, Norway) booted the rebound into the net at 1:26.
Georgetown answered late in the first half as Dan Pydo scored an unassisted goal in the 42nd minute of play.
B.U. outshot Georgetown, 9-7, in the second half but could not find the back of the net.
Twelve minutes into the second extra session Dorman sent a perfect corner to the foot of Ostli, who fired the shot past Tim Hogan for the game-winning goal.
Sophomore Chad Comroe (Dallas, TX) won his first collegiate game and had three saves for the Terriers.
Hogan had four saves for Georgetown.
For their efforts over the weekend, senior back Michael Feely (Lemmington Spa, England) and freshman midfielder Zach Kirby (Marietta, GA) were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Up next, B.U. plays at Fairfield University on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 7:00 p.m.
