MINNEAPOLIS, MN-Terrier junior center Brad Zancanaro, who had already been named Hockey East's CCM Player of the Week, has been named the USCHO/ITECH Men's Division 1 National Offensive Player of the Week for his play in the Terriers' two wins last weekend.
Last Friday night, December 3, the Terriers upset second-ranked Boston College, 3-2, in what was head coach Jack Parker's 700th career victory. Then, the following evening, the Terriers journeyed to the University of Massachusetts where they skated to a 7-1 win.
Zancanaro (Trenton, MI) was the offensive standout for the weekend with 3-1-4 and scored both game-winners. In the win over Boston College, he scored the winner with just 7:05 to play in regulation. Then, in the victory over the Minutemen, he came back with 2-1-3 and a plus-3. With his weekend's totals, Zancanaro brought his season's statistics to 4-6-10.
The two victories improved the Terriers' overall record to 9-6-0, but, more importantly, they cemented their hold on first place in the Hockey East standings. They are 8-1-0 for 16 points, three points ahead of runnerup University of Maine, which sits with a 6-3-1 league record for 13 points. Overall, the Black Bears are 10-6-2.
