Welcome Reception Planned For 2004-05 Terrier Hockey Team
September 7, 2004 | Men's Ice Hockey
BOSTON, MA-Terrier hockey fans will get their first opportunity to meet members of the 2004-05 varsity team and hear head coach Jack Parker preview the upcoming season at the Season Preview Reception scheduled for October 5, 2004.
The function will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Boston University Club on the 33rd Floor of 60 State Street in Boston.
Parker along with his coaching staff and members of the 2004-05 team will be on hand.
In addition, fans will learn about the latest developments at Agganis Arena, which is scheduled to open January 3rd when the Terriers host the University of Minnesota. The night before, these two teams will meet each other in the final men's hockey game at Walter Brown Arena.
"I am optimistic and excited about this season," said Parker, who will be entering his 32nd season as the Terriers' head coach when B.U. meets Miami University on October 8th in the Lefty McFadden Invitational in Dayton, OH. Faceoff will be at 7:35 p.m.
The next afternoon, at 4:30 p.m., the Terriers will meet the University of Michigan, which will be one of the pre-season favorites to win the National Championship.
"We are entering a new era for Boston University hockey with a new building and a new staff," Parker said in referring to Agganis Arena as well as his new associate head coach, David Quinn. "I like how this team looks entering the season. I think they learned a lot about adversity last year, and they gained confidence at the end of the season. I also like our freshman class. They have skill and size. Some will help on special teams and a few will be standouts. Each has the potential to fill a different need we have."
