
Women's Basketball Takes on Kansas Sunday

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Boston University women's basketball team will be playing its third game in four days when it faces Kansas on Sunday, Dec. 30 at 3:00 p.m. ET at Allen Fieldhouse. The Terriers are fresh off their 1-1 performance at the VCU SportsCenter Holiday Classic and enter with a 7-5 overall record. The Jayhawks are 9-2 overall.
The Terriers defeated Georgia Southern, 70-53, before falling to host-school VCU, 76-65, in the championship game of the Rams' holiday tourney. Juniors Jesyka Burks-Wiley and Christine Kinneary earned all-tournament team honors after posting impressive back-to-back performances. Burks-Wiley averaged 15.0 points per game during the tournament, which included a 20-point performance against VCU. Kinneary dished out 17 assists over two games - 13 against Georgia Southern - and committed just five turnovers from the point. Senior Cheri Raffo was also productive during the classic, posting 16 points against Georgia Southern and 11 versus the Rams.
Burks-Wiley has now led the squad offensively in six-of-12 games and is averaging 14.6 ppg on the season, to rank third in the America East Conference. Kinneary is averaging 6.92 assists per game - 1.83 more than any other player in the league.
The Jayhawks' six-game winning streak was recently snapped when they fell, 74-41, to No. 12 Cal on Dec. 21. Sade Morris was the lone Jayhawk to score in double-figures as she posted 10 points on 4-for-11 shooting. Taylor McIntosh was the team's leading rebounder with five boards.
Kansas opened the season on a five-game win streak, before dropping its first game to Southern Methodist on Nov. 24. The Jayhawks rebounded with its recent six-game streak, which was halted by Cal on Dec. 21. Danielle McCray is the team's leading scorer and rebounder with 16.6 ppg and 8.0 rpg, respectively. As a team, the Jayhawks are shooting .467 from the field and .331 from the arc. They own a +7.1 scoring margin and a +5.3 rebounding margin.
Following Sunday's game, the Terriers will return home for the first time in over a month when they host Hartford in the conference opener on Jan. 5 at 1:00 p.m.
