After wins over top-ten opponents this past week, both the men's and women's ice hockey teams at Boston University have moved up in the national polls.

The men's team is ranked third in both national polls this week, moving up following a decisive 7-2 victory over then-No. 5 Michigan on Saturday at Agganis Arena. The Terriers had been ranked sixth in the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports Division I Men's Poll and seventh in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll entering the week. BU has not been ranked this high since Oct. 9, 2006, when the team was ranked third in the USCHO poll entering the season. Undefeated Colorado College topped the polls, followed by defending national champion Boston College. The Terriers garnered 872 points and one first-place vote to rank third. Denver and Minnesota round out the top five.

The women's team is ranked in both national polls for the first time in program history following wins over then-No. 4 New Hampshire and Maine this past week. The Terriers are ranked eighth in both polls this week after sitting at tenth in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll last week, the first time in team history the team was ranked in either poll. Undefeated Wisconsin was a unanimous first place selection in both polls. Leading the charge onto the national scene was sophomore Lauren Cherewyk, who scored five goals in two games last week and was named Hockey East Pure Hockey Player of the Week and USCHO Women's Division I Offensive Player of the Week.

Both teams have Hockey East games with national implications on the slate this week. The men visit No. 14 Vermont on Saturday (Nov. 1) at 7 p.m., while the women are at No. 5 New Hampshire on Thursday (Oct. 30) at 7 p.m. before returning home to host Providence on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Walter Brown Arena.
