BOSTON - Senior Dan Schultz, a defender for the Boston University men's soccer team, was selected to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I First Team. Now eligible to be selected to the 2008 Academic All-America Team, the Terriers' captain was previously honored in 2006 when he received second-team all-district accolades.
Majoring in economics, the Cincinnati, Ohio, native has anchored a backline this season that has shut out seven opponents, including then-No. 3 Connecticut, and allowed just two goals in the previous six games to put BU atop the America East standings with Albany in a tie for first place.
To be nominated, the student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for his/her career. A student-athlete is not eligible until he/she has reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution. In the cases of transfers, graduate students and junior college graduates, the athlete must have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution to be eligible.
The Terriers (8-5-3, 5-1-1 AE) will be back in action at Nickerson Field against Hartford on Saturday (Nov. 1) at 1 p.m.
