BOSTON - Selections for the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship were announced on Monday and America East champion Boston University (11-5-3) will host Northeast Conference champion Fairleigh Dickinson (13-5-2) in the first round on Friday (Nov. 21) at 5 p.m. at Nickerson Field. The Terriers will be making their 14th appearance in the tournament and are hosting a game for the first time since 2004.
Winners of four straight games and unbeaten in the last nine, BU finished atop the America East regular-season standings and earned an automatic berth to the tournament on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Binghamton in the America East Championship game. This is the second straight year the Terriers reached the NCAA tournament after garnering an at-large bid last season.
The Knights reached the tournament with a 7-2 rout of Mount St. Mary's in the NEC championship game to capture their sixth NEC title and first since 2003 after finishing second in the league in the regular season. FDU has won its last four games entering the tournament.
The winner of Friday's tilt will advance to the second-round to meet third-seeded St. John's (N.Y.) in New York on Tuesday (Nov. 25). The Terriers faced the Red Storm earlier this season, dropping a 1-0 decision on Sept. 12.
