BOSTON - Head coach Lesley Sheehan is pleased to announce the addition of Stephanie Nunic and Petra Santini to the roster for the 2008-09 season. The two freshmen join a roster that returns every player from a team that won its 15th straight America East tournament crown and made its 10th consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament.
"We have a very strong freshman class coming in," said Sheehan. "It is great to add them to a veteran team. We have a very competitive national schedule ahead of us, and it will be exciting for this group to play with these highly ranked teams."
Nunic, who hails from New York, N.Y., was rated as a Blue Chip Recruit on Tennisrecruiting.net. She achieved a ranking of No. 14 in the Girls National 18s and an international ranking of 180.
Santini ranked 163rd in the ITF and first in Croatia in U-18s as a senior. The native of Sibenik, Croatia was No. 1 in her home country as a junior. She ranked in the Top 20 in Europe in the U-16s and won a U-18 singles ITF tournament as a sophomore.
Led by America East Player of the Year and tournament Most Outstanding Performer Francine Whu, Boston University finished 11-8 last season, remaining undefeated in conference action and picking up its first win over Boston College since 2002.
