This season marks the third Annual "Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer," hosted by the Women's Hockey East Association. Skating Strides is a league-wide fundraiser where proceeds are split among charities, including: Friends of Mel Foundation, the American Cancer Society's "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" New England divisions, Vermont Cancer Center, the Maine Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Gloria Gemma Foundation. The event has raised nearly $60,000 dollars over the past two seasons.
Boston University's designated Skating Strides game will take place this Saturday (Feb. 7) at 3 p.m. when the Terriers host Connecticut at Walter Brown Arena. In-game fundraising efforts will include donations, merchandise sales and silent auctions for autographed sticks.
Men's ice hockey will also aid the league's efforts at their game versus UMass Lowell on Friday (Feb. 6) at 7 p.m. Fans can contribute to the fundraiser at the game through donations, women's ice hockey t-shirt/ticket packages for $10 dollars, Chuck-A-Puck and 50/50 raffle ticket sales.
