Feb. 22, 2010
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of one of the greatest sports moments in American history and Boston University's role in it, BU is auctioning two pieces of memorabilia signed by the four Terriers from the 1980 United States Olympic hockey team.
On Feb. 22, 1980, a United States team of amateurs pulled off a stunning upset of the Soviet Union at the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, N.Y., in the "Miracle on Ice." Captain Mike Eruzione, starters Jim Craig and Dave Silk and defenseman Jack O'Callahan all played at Boston University and have signed two pieces of memorabilia now up for bid, an authentic Boston University hockey jersey that is valued at $150 unsigned and a poster-sized replica of the Sports Illustrated cover that captured Team USA's victory, the only cover in the magazine's history that does not feature a caption or headline.
The auctions on both of these pieces of hockey history end on Friday (Feb. 26) at 5 p.m.
