Hutson Named First Team All-American for Second Straight Year
April 10, 2026 | Men's Ice Hockey
LAS VEGAS - Cole Hutson was selected as a First Team All-American by the American Hockey Coaches Association, as announced on Friday night at a ceremony held at the Presidio Ballroom at Park MGM Las Vegas.
This is the second straight year that Hutson has been named a First Team All-American and it marks the fourth straight year that a Terrier has been chosen as a First Team All-American. Hutson is the 14th Terrier in program history to earn First Team All-America accolades and is the eighth BU defenseman to be a first-team selection multiple times - Lane Hutson, David Farrance, Matt Grzelcyk, Matt Gilroy, Vic Stanfield, Bob Brown and Tom Ross are the others. Lane and Cole are the only two Terriers in program history to earn First Team All-American recognition as both a freshman and as a sophomore.
Since Jay Pandolfo took over as head coach for the 2022-23 season, BU has boasted six All-Americans, including five first-team selections. The Terriers have totaled 11 First Team All-America accolades since the 2014-15 season in addition to a pair of second-team selections.
A native of Chicago, Hutson was also recognized as New England's top defenseman for the second straight season and is just the second defenseman (joining his brother Lane) to be named a Hockey East First Team All-Star as both a freshman and as a sophomore. Hutson led the Terriers in points (32) and assists (22) and paced all league blue liners with four game-winning goals. He totaled 80 points (24g, 56a) in 74 career games with the Terriers before signing with the Washington Capitals. In 11 games since joining the Capitals, Hutson has scored three goals and added five assists for eight points.
