HOW IT HAPPENED
- McLaughlin opened the scoring just 4:09 into the proceedings. After receiving an entry pass, Svoboda chipped the puck for Boisvert, who recovered it below the right circle. Boisvert turned and fired a pass to McLaughlin at the left post for the redirect past Samuel Richard (17 saves).
- Sophomore Mikhail Yegorov (23 saves) made two terrific stops immediately after a Lowell penalty expired to keep the Terriers in front.
- Jay Ahern equalized at 7:11 of the second stanza, but Yegorov made nine more saves in that period to keep the game tied.
- UML took the lead at 3:42 of the third and then doubled that advantage at the 8:37 mark.
- Eiserman gave BU life at 11:17 of the third when Bednarik won an offensive-zone draw right back to Eiserman, who immediately snapped it past a stunned Samuel Richard (24 saves).
- The Terriers pressed for an equalizer and eventually pulled Yegorov in favor of an extra attacker, but the River Hawks converted on a long-distance shot to make it 4-2 with 1:49 to go.
- BU never quit and McCarthy scored an extra-attacker goal just 21 seconds later to make it 4-3.
- The Terriers generated some opportunities in the final 1:28 but were unable to get that necessary fourth goal.
- BU went 7-for-7 on the penalty kill; only two other teams in the country had a better penalty-killing night (8-for-8) this season.
- Eiserman has lit the lamp in four straight games.
- McCarthy has recorded five points (2g, 3a) in his last four games.
- Bednarik extended his point streak to four games.
- BU finished sixth in Hockey East and will host 11th-seeded Vermont for an opening-round game on Wednesday, March 11.
- Game time is TBD.
