Skoog Becomes 105th Terrier to Skate in NHL

TORONTO - Former Boston University men's ice hockey standout Wilmer Skoog became the 105th Terrier to skate in the National Hockey League when he made his debut for the Florida Panthers on Saturday night.
Skoog played 15:49 of the Panthers' 6-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs, recording two shots on goal and finishing the night as a plus-1. A native of Tyresö, Sweden, Skoog has been terrific for the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL, totaling a career-high 37 points (18g, 19a) in 59 games. Skoog has played in 180 games over the last three seasons for Charlotte, scoring 49 goals and adding 43 assists. Skoog currently ranks in the top five of each major offensive category (goals, assists, points) on the Checkers roster.
In four seasons at BU, Skoog played in 103 games, totaling 40 goals and 36 assists for 76 points. He was a two-time Hockey East All-Star, earning second-team honors as a junior in 2021-22 before securing third-team accolades as a senior in 2022-23. That year, he was instrumental in BU winning both the Hockey East regular-season and tournament titles. Skoog earned a spot on the 2023 NCAA Manchester All-Regional Team after lighting the lamp in both wins that clinched the Terriers' first Frozen Four berth since 2015.
After Skoog's debut, 26 former Terrier standouts have appeared in an NHL game this season, which is a program record. Skoog also became the 11th Terrier to have played for head coach Jay Pandolfo that has made it to the NHL.
