Terriers Defeated at New Hampshire, 4-1
February 13, 2026 | Men's Ice Hockey
DURHAM, N.H. - Freshman Ryder Ritchie found the back of the net for the Boston University men's ice hockey team, but the Terriers dropped a 4-1 decision to New Hampshire on Friday night at Whittemore Center.
Senior Owen McLaughlin recorded his 100th career point with the primary helper on Ritchie's sixth goal of the season. Freshman Charlie Trethewey also assisted on the Ritchie strike.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UNH scored twice in a span of 55 seconds to take a 2-0 lead just 1:23 into the contest.
- The Terriers settled into the game and eventually got a goal back at the 12:55 mark of the first. A Trethewey shot caromed off the end wall and McLaughlin was first to collect it and dish it to Ritchie on the left post for the freshman's sixth goal of the year.
- Sophomore Brandon Svoboda had a great bid with 14:00 left in the second stanza. Classmate Cole Hutson sprang him with a terrific outlet pass and Svoboda had separation up the right wing, but his shot was kicked aside by Kyle Chauvette (XX saves),
- The Terriers controlled play through the middle portion of the second period, with their best spell coming halfway through the frame. Sophomore Kamil Bednarik rang a shot off the crossbar, with classmates Sascha Boumedienne and Sacha Boisvert also coming inches away from an equalizer.
- The Wildcats took advantage of a 5-on-3 power play to extend their lead to 3-1 early in the third.
- BU had a power-play chance of its own in the final frame but was unable to convert.
- The WIldcats added an empty-netter with 2:33 remaining in regulation to create the 4-1 final.
GAME NOTES
- Ritchie has scored a goal in two of his last three games.
- Trethewey has collected an assist in two of his last three appearances.
