CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Boston University softball team's (2-3) bats game alive with 14 runs on 14 hits, as it defeated Seton Hall (1-4), 14-5, on Sunday afternoon in five innings at the UNC-Charlotte Green and White Tournament. Five different Terriers had multiple-hit games and senior hurler Cassidi Hardy earned the win in the circle, striking out six batters and allowing just two earned runs.

Hardy was solid on the mound with six strikeouts and one walk after facing 26 batters. Five runs were scored on the Terriers' defense; however, just two were earned.

In the batter's box, nine Terriers connected at least once and senior Rachel Moeller led the way, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Freshman Taylor Cowan and junior Kelley Engman each collected two hits with two RBIs.

Offensively, BU scored in four out of a possible five innings. After Seton Hall struck first in the bottom of the first frame, the Terriers came back to tie the game in the second when junior Caitlin Rentler scored on a wild pitch.

In the third, the Terriers went ahead for good as they scored on four-straight at-bats and took advantage of a wild pitch. Maintaining that momentum into the fifth, Engman highlighted a five-run inning, as she plated two runs on a single through the left side.

BU rounded out its scoring in the fifth with four runs on four hits - again in consecutive at-bats. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Seton Hall attempted a rally as Kristen Kaelin homered to left field to score two runs, however, Hardy struck out the final three batters to maintain the nine-run lead and end the game in five innings.

BU will return to the field on March 5 at the USF Under Armour Invitational in Clearwater, Fla., where it will face Villanova, Virginia Tech, Robert Morris, Florida International and UAB.
