April 17, 2026 | Softball
WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army West Point rallied for three runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Boston University softball team, 6-4, on Friday afternoon at the Army Softball Complex.
BU (34-13, 11-2 PL) held a 4-3 lead entering the bottom of the sixth and was an out away from escaping the inning unscathed, but Army West Point (25-20, 7-3) kept the inning alive with a walk and a single before a two-RBI double gave the Black Knights the lead.
Junior Kylie Doherty made history in the third inning by hitting her league-leading 20th home run of the season and 40th career homer, which is a new all-time Patriot League record. Doherty went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and was one of four Terriers to score a run.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Black Knights hit a solo homer in each of the first two innings to grab an early 2-0 lead.
- BU took its first lead of the game thanks to a four-run third inning. Senior Brooke Deppiesse hit a one-out single before Doherty's blast tied the game at 2-2.
- With junior Sophie Naivar on first and two outs in the inning, freshman Irys Kline hit a ball deep to left center that the Army center fielder dropped on the warning track. That allowed Naivar to score and make it 3-2.
- Kline advanced to third on a wild pitch and sophomore Camryn Lyons walked to put runners on first and third with two outs. Kline then stole home after Lyons bluffed towards second to double the Terriers' lead to 4-2.
- Another solo homer for Army made it a 4-3 game in the bottom of the fourth.
- Neither team scored in the fifth inning.
- A two-out rally by Army in the bottom of the sixth gave the Black Knights a 6-4 lead.
- BU had runners on second and third with two outs in the top of the seventh but Army got a game-ending strikeout to clinch the win.
- Doherty has homered in three of her last four games and she also extended her hitting streak to 10 games.
- She has gone 18-for-34 (.529) and driven in 19 runs during that span
- Deppiesse pushed her hitting streak to nine games.
- BU and Army will complete this weekend's series with a doubleheader on Saturday that's scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
