Former Boston University hockey standout Ron Anderson had good reason to celebrate the Chicago Blackhawks' first Stanley Cup title in 49 years, having just completed his first year as the organization's Director of Player Recruitment. He previously served as an amateur scout for the Blackhawks for eight seasons.
Anderson graduated from BU in 1974 after coming to campus from Moncton, N.B., and was a member of the Terriers' back-to-back national championships in 1971 and 1972. He tallied 87 points on 39 goals and 48 assists in 62 career games at BU.
After playing professionally for five years, including 28 games in the NHL with the Washington Capitals in 1974-75, Anderson coached 18 years at Merrimack College with 15 of them coming as head from from 1983-98. He led the Warriors to three consecutive ECAC East championships (1987-89) and their first and only appearance in the NCAA Division I tournament in 1989.
