Canada's National Women's Team
Beginning Wednesday (Sept. 22), five members of the Boston University women's ice hockey team will participate in Canada's National Women's Team evaluation camp. The five-day camp runs through Sept. 26 and includes graduate student Catherine Ward, juniors Jenelle Kohanchuk, Jenn Wakefield and Tara Watchorn, and freshman Marie-Philip Poulin.
In all, 36 forwards, 20 defensemen and eight goaltenders were invited to the camp, which will feature a series of practices and intrasquad games. The camp will also be used as the first step in determining Canada's National Women's Team for various international competitions during the 2010-11 season.
Ward and Poulin are two of the 17 members from the 2010 gold medal-winning Olympic team at the camp, while Kohanchuk, Wakefield and Watchorn are three of the 22 invitees from the under-22 team that played the U.S. in a three-game series in August.
The remaining Terriers will play in the team's lone exhibition game on Saturday (Sept. 25) against the University of Windsor at Walter Brown Arena at 3 p.m. BU will open its 2010-11 season on Oct. 2 at North Dakota.
