
Terriers Host Yale for Tuesday Night Tilt

BOSTON - Before embarking on a six-game road swing, the Boston University women's basketball team will host Yale on Tuesday (Nov. 19) in Case Gym. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the Patriot League Network.
Tuesday is the second annual club sports night at BU Basketball. All PERD club sports can win up to an additional $1,500 in funding for their club sport. Funding will be awarded based on attendance and spirit. For more details visit the BU Club Sports Facebook page.
The game will be the 14th all-time meeting between BU (1-2) and Yale (2-1). The Terriers hold an 11-2 lead in the series that dates back to 1981. The two teams last met on Dec. 7, 2011, and BU earned a 59-54 victory in New Haven, Conn. The Terriers are 3-1 against the Bulldogs under head coach Kelly Greenberg and 6-0 when facing Yale at Case Gym.
BU is coming off its first win of the season after the Terriers defeated Rhode Island, 52-49, Saturday afternoon at Case Gym. Senior Rashidat Agboola matched her season high with nine rebounds while adding 11 points. Her classmate Whitney Turner was one point shy of a double-double with a team-high 10 rebounds and season-high four blocks.
Four players for BU are averaging double-digit scoring performances through the first three games of the season, including seniors Danielle Callahan (13.7), Turner (10.7), Agboola (10.3) and junior Mollie McKendrick (10.0). Agboola and Turner are tied for the team lead with 8.3 rpg while BU is averaging 41.0 rpg as a team.
The Terriers are shooting 34.1 percent from the field and have struggled to find their stroke from beyond the arc, converting just 23.0 percent of their 3-point attempts. BU is shooting 60.5 percent from the free throw line and averaging 20.0 fouls per game.
All 11 players on the active roster have seen action so far this season and seven players are averaging at least 10.0 minutes per game.
Yale begins a four-game road swing in Boston on Tuesday and enters the game with a 2-1 record after falling to Sacred Heart, 67-54, on Saturday. Yale opened the season with wins over Monmouth (64-55) and UMass Lowell (90-77).
Junior Sarah Halejian leads the Bulldogs with 12.3 ppg while classmate Hayden Latham and sophomore Meredith Boardman both contribute 10.0 ppg. Boardman is also the team's leading rebounder with 9.0 boards per game.
As a team, Yale averages 69.3 points per contest and is outrebounding opponents by a +5.3 margin. The Bulldogs are shooting 34.3 percent from the floor and 30.9 percent from the 3-point line.
In her ninth year at the helm, head coach Chris Gobrecht owns a 93-133 record at Yale and a 518-444 overall record in 34 years as a head coach.
Next up for the Terriers will be the Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Challenge, which features four games in a 10-day span. The first three games will take place this weekend during the campus round hosted by the University of Connecticut. BU will kick off the tournament by facing No. 1 Connecticut on Friday (Nov. 22) at 7:30 p.m. in Storrs, Conn.
