WAKEFIELD, Mass. -
The first weekly Hockey East honors of the season were handed out on Monday and junior Ahti Oksanen and freshman Jack Eichel of the Boston University men's ice hockey team were named Warrior Player of the Week and Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Oksanen, playing as a forward for the first time as a collegian, recorded four goals in the Terriers' 12-1 exhibition victory over St. Thomas (N.B.) on Saturday at Agganis Arena. All four of Oksanen's goals came in the first 25 minutes of play.
Eichel, who was making his first appearance in a BU jersey, had five primary assists in the win and fed Oksanen the puck on all four of his tallies. Both of them finished the game with a plus-3 rating.
The Terriers will officially open their 2014-15 season on Friday (Oct. 10) when they visit Massachusetts. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
