BU (8-3-2, 5-2-0 WHEA) played to a 1-1 tie on Friday night against Harvard. Sophomore Samantha Sutherland's second-period strike stood as the game-tying goal, with assists going to freshman Victoria Bach and junior Sarah Lefort. Sophomore Victoria Hanson stopped 16 shots to preserve the tie.
It has been all BU of late in the all-time series with New Hampshire, as the Terriers have won six straight games against the Wildcats dating back to Jan. 27, 2013. BU has also won eight of the last nine games against UNH, including five straight at Walter Brown Arena.
Junior Kayla Tutino has two goals and 10 assists in 11 career games against UNH, including two assists on Nov. 2. Lefort lit up the Wildcats last season, scoring six goals and adding two assists, including a four-goal game on Feb. 8 at Walter Brown Arena. She kept her momentum against UNH going on Nov. 2, scoring two goals. Senior Shannon Stoneburgh has two goals and three assists all-time against UNH.
Lefort leads the team with 17 points thanks to a team-high 10 assists. She is tied with Bach for the team lead in goals with seven and both players have been red hot of late. Lefort has a point in five of the last six games while Bach has recorded a point in all six of those tilts.
Sunday’s showdown with BU is the only game on the docket this weekend for UNH (3-10-1, 1-6-0 WHEA). The Wildcats were outscored 15-0 by No. 1 Boston College last weekend, including a 10-0 drubbing on Nov. 15. Prior to their home-and-home series with BC, the Wildcats did defeat Vermont, 5-1, on Nov. 8.
Sophomore Jonna Curtis leads the team in points (7) and goals (5) while senior Kayla Mork’s five assists are tops on the team. Aside from Curtis, only freshman Amy Boucher (3g) has more than one goal for UNH this season; 11 other players have one goal apiece. Junior goaltender Vilma Vaattovaara has started 12 games for the Wildcats, though she was not between the pipes at BU on Nov. 2 due to her participation in the Four Nations Cup. She owns a 3.04 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage to go along with a 2-9-1 record.
The Terriers will hit the road next weekend when they take on Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire, on Nov. 29. Puck drop is set for 12 p.m.
