Today's Subject: Junior Emily Felbaum
1. What is your favorite softball memory?
My favorite softball memory wasn’t necessarily from one game, but from one weekend. It was during the summer before my senior year of high school when I was still in-between verbals, and also going through a tough point in my life for other personal reasons. I had one of the best performance weekends of my life. I hadn’t hit a homerun all summer and then hit four in that weekend. I made two all-out diving catches, and it was truly the most confident I have ever felt with myself.
2. What is your earliest softball memory?
Winning the 10 & under state championship with Southeast Denver in Naturita, Colorado.
3. When did you know Boston University was the right school for you?
I knew BU was right for me after I spent time focusing on another school. BU was the opposite of what I was originally looking for, but I knew that everything happens for a reason and that BU was actually the place for me.
4. What was it like to put on a BU uniform for the first time?
As a freshman, it felt so surreal. I felt a sense of accomplishment. Now when I put my jersey on, I feel a sense of pride. I get fired up when I put my jersey on because that means that it is FINALLY game time.
5. Who is your role model and why?
Sounds cheesy, but my mom and dad are my two biggest role models both for different reasons.
6. What sport would you be playing if you weren’t playing softball and why?
I would play basketball because it was the only sport other than softball that I kept up with until I had to give it up to focus on softball.
7. What are your best attributes you feel you bring to the team?
I feel like I'm a very positive person, so I think that comes out at practice and helps motivate my teammates. I’m also pretty sarcastic and funny, so everyone always enjoys a good laugh.
8. Which athlete’s career would you most like to have and why?
Dustin Pedrioa. He’s the best second baseman in the game, and he gets to play for the greatest city in the world. He is one of few that feel a sense of pride and stay with the Red Sox even when another team could be offering him a better contract. I admire his loyalty.
9. What is your dream job?
Working at Google seems really, really cool.
10. What has been your favorite BU memory so far?
Going to the Cal Berkely regional was my favorite memory for the longest time, but I’d have to say that going to the World Series game 6 takes the cake. Few people can say that they saw the Red Sox clinch the World Series at home.
11. What is your favorite book and why?
I haven’t read a book for pleasure in a long time, but the best one I’ve read was Marley & Me. I love dogs and that book really tugged at my heart.
12. What pregame music do you listen to and why?
Usually rap or hip hop. Anything up-beat or with a good beat really gets me hyped up.
