Softball to Continue Road Trip With Midweek Visits to Harvard and Providence

BOSTON – Riding a seven-game win streak, the Boston University softball team will compete in two midweek non-conference games with a Tuesday afternoon visit to Harvard followed by a Wednesday matchup at Providence. First pitch against the Crimson is set for 4 p.m., while the Friars' contest has a 3 p.m. start time.

BU added the Providence game on Monday after the second contest of last Wednesday's home doubleheader was postponed due to darkness.

TERRIER TIDBITS

With the three-game sweep at Colgate over the weekend, BU is now 9-4 in true road games compared to the 15-1 home mark.
One of seven regular starters batting over .300, senior Brooke Deppiesse leads BU batting .386 with nine doubles alongside six homers, four triples and 40 runs scored.
Deppiesse is tied with junior Kylie Doherty (.382) at 45 runs scored with Doherty owning both BU and Patriot League single-season records in homers (18) and RBIs (61).
Both Deppiesse are Doherty are within striking distance of the program record for career RBIs. Deppiesse has 149 total, six shy of Alex Heinen's ('19) record total of 155, while Doherty has 144. Lehigh's Liz Lucas ('13) and Kim Miller ('96) sit atop the PL record book at 165.
Junior Kyomi Apalit (.367) and senior Megan Coyle (.348) have combined for 11 homers with Coyle tying sophomore Camryn Lyons (.352) at three triples apiece.
Reigning three-time PL Pitcher of the Week and senior Kasey Ricard (24-5, 2.79 ERA) has tied the PL record for awards in a single season at six total and increased her PL record career total to 19.
Ricard has posted 183 strikeouts in 175.2 innings and has earned two saves this year with classmate Haley Ganino (6-1, 3.52 ERA) owning the other save this year.
BU is batting .341 this season while holding opponents to .244 with advantages in homers (43-27), doubles (64-39) and triples (14-7).

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

at Harvard, 16-15-1 (Tuesday, 4 p.m.)

The Crimson are 1-2 at home with 3-2 (9) and 12-11 losses to Dartmouth followed by a 13-12 (8) victory.
Harvard is 2-2 against the Patriot League with 5-1 and 14-4 (6) losses to Army and two victories against Holy Cross (3-2, 9-0). The Crimson own notable non-conference wins against Fordham (4-0) and a doubleheader sweep at Sacred Heart (4-1, 11-3) along with one-run losses to Fordham (6-5), St. John's (3-2) and FIU (6-5).
One of six batting over .300, Audrey Szollosi is hitting a team-high .388 with 28 runs scored and eight stolen bases, while Sophie Sun (.368) is tied with Finley Payne (.287) at seven homers apiece. Sun and Payne have combined for 69 RBIs as well.
Seven players have made at least one appearance in the circle. Nicolette Hunter (7-7, 2.41 ERA) has posted 70 strikeouts in 87.0 innings, while Ryan Grace (1-3, 2 SVs, 2.55 ERA) has totaled 28 strikeouts in 35.2 innings.
Harvard is batting .305 and holding opponents to .281 with deficits in doubles (46-36) and homers (23-20).
BU leads the all-time series, 31-15, having won the last six meetings dating back to a 4-2 road loss in 2019. Last year, the Terriers earned a 2-0 home victory after rallying for a 9-5 road win in 2024.

at Providence, 19-14 (Wednesday, 3 p.m.)

The Friars are 11-1 at home with a Big East series sweep against DePaul and St. John's alongside a 1-0 win over Holy Cross. The lone loss was a 10-7 decision to Boston College.
Cameron Dunn (.415) is one of five batting over .300 with a team-high .415 average alongside 12 homers, nine doubles, 30 runs scored and 44 RBIs.
Both Sofia Peterson (.344) and Julia Renny (.329) own seven homers apiece with a combined 61 RBIs, while Brianna De La Fuente (.312) has six total.
In the circle, Alyssa Twomey (8-1, 2.97 ERA) has totaled 47 strikeouts in 59.0 innings, while Addyson Frye (2-3, 5.83 ERA) and Alannah Hopkins (1-3, 6.65 ERA) have combined for 54 strikeouts in 82.0 innings of work.
Providence is batting .294 over the season and holding opponents to .293 with leads in homers (43-27) and doubles (43-39).
BU leads the all-time series, 27-17-2, after rallying from a two-run deficit twice last Wednesday for an 8-7 home win to avenge a 3-2 road loss in 2025 that saw the Friars score all three runs in the seventh.

LOOKING AHEAD

BU will remain on the road and resume Patriot League play at Army West Point with Saturday's (April 18) doubleheader and Sunday's (April 19) single contest both slated for a 12 p.m. start time.\
The Terriers are currently atop the PL standings at 11-1, while the Black Knights are 6-3.
Last season, BU went 1-2 at home with a 4-1 win and pair of losses, 6-5 (9) and 10-1 (5), but bounced back against the regular season champion Black Knights in the PL tournament with an 8-0 (6) win and 3-2 come-from-behind victory for the title.
