CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College jumped out ahead early and allowed just four hits to defeat the Boston University softball team, 8-0, on Thursday afternoon at Shea Field. With their fourth run-rule victory, the Eagles improve to 16-15, while the Terriers drop to 17-13 after suffering their third shutout of the season.

BC's Nicole D'Argento (10-9) collected the complete-game win with four strikeouts against two walks. The Eagles used a bases-clearing double along with two two-RBI homers to defeat sophomore Lauren Hynes (10-9), who allowed eight hits and three walks while striking out one batter.

Hynes, junior Mandy Fernandez, junior Emily Felbaum and senior Amy Ekart all had a hit to lead the Terriers' offense.

Senior Jayme Mask opened the game with a walk and later sole second with one out. BU was unable to bring her home, finishing the inning with back-to-back ground outs.

The Eagles then came out attacking, using two singles and a walk to load the bases. Jessie Daulton plated all three with a double to right center and later scored on Alana DiMaso's two-run homer.

BC earned the final three runs on Tatiana Cortez's second-inning double and fifth-inning two-run liner over the left field wall by Daulton.

BU had chances to get into the game in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively. with two outs, Fernandez singled and then reached third on Felbaum's double. D'Argento earned the strike out on the next at-bat to end the threat.

In the fifth, Ekart doubled down the left field line. Junior pinch runner Kendra Meadows stole third when freshman Brittany Younan was walked with two outs. D'Argento again got out of the jam by inducing a fly out to left.

The Terriers will return home to host their first-ever Patriot League weekend series against preseason favorite and defending regular season champion Lehigh. First pitch is set for Saturday (April 5) at 12 p.m.
