GAME 1: BU - 4, Lehigh - 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountain Hawks quickly threatened with back-to-back one-out singles in the top of the first, but Ricard kep the game scoreless with a pair of fly outs.
- After Kline earned a lead-off walk in the bottom half, Deppiesse doubled to right center but was robbed of an RBI due to the hard hit ball bouncing over the padded outfield wall.
- With the bases loaded and zero outs, Madison Finnerty kept BU off the scoreboard by earning two line outs and a swinging strikeout.
- The Terriers stayed on the attack by loading the bases on three consecutive singles with zero outs in the bottom of the second to set up Deppiesse's RBI sac fly and Doherty's two-out RBI single to right center.
- BU stranded two on base in both the third and fourth innings before doubling the lead in the fifth.
- Junior Kyomi Apalit led off with a walk, rushed to third on Lyons' single and touched home on Christopher's well-placed bunt.
- Kline added to the lead by plating Lyons from third on a deep grounder to short.
- The Terriers seemed to add another run in the bottom of the sixth after Doherty singled through the left side and advanced to third on Coyle's run-ruled double, but the umps ruled in a debated decision that she left third base early on Apalit's fly ball to left.
- The lost run was not needed, as Ricard bounced back from a one-out walk and double with a strikeout and ground out to seal the shutout victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountain Hawks opened the game with a double and infield single, but they left the bases loaded following a one-out walk due to sophomore Danika Nell (2-4) earning three strikeouts.
- Lehigh followed in the second with a one-out walk and bunt single before grounding out to second and lining out to left.
- Junior Sophie Naivar earned BU's first hit in the botton of the third with a two-out single through the right side, but Moorman maintained the shutout with a lineout to center.
- After Nell retired eight straight Mountain Hawks, Helen Woloshyn started off the fifth inning by hitting a lead-off single, stealing second and scoring on Fricker's RBI single to center.
- Lehigh plated Fricker with the help of two sac bunts and added one more in the seventh against senior Haley Ganino thanks to a walk, throwing error and RBI sac fly.
- Trying to mount a rally, senior Megan Coyle led off the fifth with a single and Kline delivered a one-out single during the sixth, but in both innings, the Terriers flew out twice.
- Moorman then sealed the shutout in the seventh with a strikeout and pair of pop ups.
- After taking a break from participating in midweek action, the Terriers will next host Bucknell in a weekend series starting Saturday in a doubleheader set for a 12 p.m. start time.
- BU has won the last 19 meetings, including last year's three-game sweep on the road that featured a 14-7 victory decided in 15 innings.
- Back in 2024, the Terriers went 4-0 at home with two one-run victories, including one decided in 12 innings, and a 5-2 victory in the PL tournament.
