BOSTON – The No. 10 Boston University women’s ice hockey team dropped a 7-1 decision at No. 9/10 Northeastern on Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena.

Senior Jordan Juron scored her first goal of the season and freshman Mary Grace Kelley collected her first collegiate point with an assist on the goal. Junior Maddie Elia also assisted on Juron’s goal. Junior Victoria Hanson made 24 saves in the first two periods and sophomore Erin O’Neil stopped eight shots during the third period.

Despite allowing three goals in the opening 20 minutes, the Terriers (3-4-0, 2-1-0 WHEA) had plenty of chances and carried the play for a good portion of the period. The newly formed trio of Sarah Lefort, Victoria Bach and Kayla Tutino generated most of those bids, but were unable to get on the board.

In the second period, NU (5-1-1, 1-0-0 WHEA) scored two goals in a 10-second span and added a third marker with under a minute to play to take a 6-0 advantage into the intermission.

Facing a 7-0 deficit, the Terriers got on the board at the 13:06 mark of the third period. Elia skated up the left wing with Kelley driving to the net. Elia found Kelley, and her shot was stopped. Juron was there to bury the rebound, however, to avoid the shutout.

The Terriers will look to improve to 3-1-0 in conference play when they host Vermont tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m.
