BOSTON-The Boston University women's basketball begins its conference schedule on Wednesday when the Terriers host Holy Cross at Case Gym.

Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. and will be aired live on the Patriot League Network. The pair will also play for points in the Turnpike Trophy, with Holy Cross looking for their first points of the series as BU leads, 5-0 so far this year.

QUICK HITS
-Sarah Hope matched the school single-game record in 3-pointers made with seven against Rhode Island with seven. The junior is currently ranked 10th all-time at BU in career three’s with 128.
-Meghan Green had a break-out game against Marist, scoring 22 points. She leads the team with 10.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
-BU enters its third season in the Patriot League and second under the command of head coach Katy Steding.
-BU returns nine players from the 2014-15 season and added five during the off-season.
-The 2015-16 captains are Clodagh Scannell, Courtney Latham, Sarah Hope and Corrine Williams.
-Six players who started 12 or more games return for the 2015-16 season.
-BU enters its 41st season as a varsity program.

A TERRIER WIN WOULD...
-End a two-game series skid for the Terriers.
-Give BU its first win of the season.
-Be the second win against Holy Cross as conference opponents.

LAST TIME OUT
-BU came back from the holiday break with a 60-45 loss in the final non-conference matchup of the season against Vermont.
-Troi Melton and Courtney Latham co-led the team with 11 points apiece.
-Corrine Williams had a career-high six steals, the first BU player to have five or more takeaways in a game since Courtney Latham had five exactly one year ago against UMass.
-Kara Sheftic had success drawing Catamount fouls, getting 12 chances from the foul line throughout the game, the most since 2012 when Mo Moran also had 12 shots from the charity stripe at Albany (Jan. 12).

THE SERIES
-Holy Cross leads the series, 12-3 and has won the last two meetings.
-BU has only claimed one win over the Crusaders as conference opponents.
-The pair first met in 1976, the program’s first season of competition.

THE TERRIERS
-The Terriers start the season on an 11-game skid.
-Sarah Hope has been outstanding from long-range as of late, matching her career-high with six three’s against UMass Lowell and then beating her personal best and matching the school record with seven against Rhode Island.
-After missing a game due to injury for the first time in her career, Meghan Green returned against Marist and led the team with 22 points, one shy of her career high. She leads the team with 10.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
-Troi Melton has been a consistent threat for the Terriers, averaging 9.5 points per game, bolstered by six double-digit showings so far this season. She has also been key to the BU defense, leading the team with 15 steals this year.
-BU returns nine players from the 2014-15 season and adds five newcomers to this year’s squad.

THE CRUSADERS
-Holy Cross finished its non-conference schedule with a 3-8 record, defeating Bryant, Vermont and Manhattan.
-The Crusaders are averaging 62.2 points per game so far this year and are shooting over 40 percent from the field. Holy Cross has found success from long range, averaging 6.2 3-pointers per game.
-Raquel Scott leads the team with 16.4 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. I. Thomas-Waheed and Lisa Mifsud both average 11.6 points per game. Thomas-Waheed leads the team in steals with 2.4 per game and Mifsud is the assist leader with 3.6 per game.

THE TURNPIKE TROPHY
-Throughout the 2015-2016 academic year, Holy Cross and Boston University will be competing for the inaugural Turnpike Trophy.
-This athletic series between the in-state Patriot League rivals awards points for all head-to-head victories in both the regular season and postseason, with the Turnpike Trophy going to the school that accumulates the most points at the end of the year.
-Going into Wednesday’s game, the Terriers hold a 5-0 lead, winning in men’s and women’s soccer, field hockey and men’s and women’s cross country. There are two points up for grabs as the men’s basketball teams also meet on Dec. 30 at Holy Cross.

BU IN CONFERENCE OPENERS
-The Terriers are 17-14 all-time in conference openers including a 4-7 record at home.
-BU has not yet won a Patriot League opener, losing to Holy Cross in each of the first two years in the conference.
-BU is best on the road in conference openers, going 9-6 on opponent courts and 4-1 at neutral sites.
