WAKEFIELD, Mass. - After helping the Boston University men's ice hockey team claim its first Frozen Four berth in six years, senior Evan Rodrigues has been named the Hockey East Warrior Player of the Week for the third time this season, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Rodrigues was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Northeast Regional after leading the Terriers to a pair of one-goal wins. He notched four points (3g, 1a) on the weekend, highlighted by the game-winning goal in the regional final against Minnesota Duluth.
He scored twice against Duluth after registering a goal and an assist in Friday's NCAA opener against Yale. The assist came on junior Danny O'Regan's overtime winner.
The Terriers won both games by a score of 3-2 and will next face North Dakota in the Frozen Four semifinals on Thursday, April 9, at TD Garden.
Rodrigues' first goal on Saturday was his 60th point of the season and he ranks second in the nation in points now with 61, trailing only freshman linemate Jack Eichel (67).
