Terriers Split With BC In Final Dual Meet
January 31, 2016 | Women's Swimming & Diving
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston University swimming and diving team competed in its final dual meet of the season on Saturday at Boston College. The women's team finished with a dominant 211-88 win while the men's team was edged by the Eagles, 168.5-131.5
The women's team won all but two events, as the Terriers competed in all 16 scheduled despite clinching the win early in the meet to get in some final practice before the Patriot League Championship Meet. The men's team kept it close throughout the meet but the Eagles bested the Terriers in the diving pool and in both relays, which ultimately put BC ahead in the end.
Julimar Avila led the women's team with four first-place finishes on the day, sweeping the butterfly events, winning the 100 freestyle and helping the 200 freestyle relay team to a win. Mika Spencer also had multiple wins on the day, taking first place in the 200 freestyle and 200 IM after helping the Terriers kick the meet off with a win in the 200 medley relay.
On the men's side, Garrett Chin led the Terriers with three individual wins, taking first in the 200 fly, 200 back and 200 IM. Trevor Winans dominated the freestyle events, finishing in first place in the 200 and 500, while Daniel Andronov swept the breaststroke events, winning both the 100 and 200.
Select Terriers will compete next weekend at the UConn open meet on Saturday, Feb. 6 but the entire team will be back in action at the Patriot League Championship meet, beginning on Feb. 17.
