BOSTON – Seniors Sarah Lefort and Kayla Tutino each tallied a goal and an assist but the Boston University women’s ice hockey team dropped a 6-2 decision at No. 6 Northeastern on Saturday at Matthews Arena.

Saturday’s game closed the regular season for both squads. BU (20-12-2, 17-5-2 WHEA) will be the third seed in the Hockey East playoffs while Northeastern (26-7-1, 20-4-0 WHEA) claimed second place.

Sophomore Victoria Bach also had a two-point day, as she assisted on both goals. She now has 23 assists on the season, while Tutino tallied her 19th helper.

Lefort's 21st assist of the season tied her with Marie-Philip Poulin for first on the all-time scoring list. She enters the playoffs with 181 career points thanks to 91 goals and 90 assists.

The Terriers opened the scoring 13:16 into the game with Lefort's 12th goal of the season, but Kendall Coyne evened the score late in the first period. The Huskies scored the next two goals to take a 3-1 lead 5:25 into the second stanza, but Tutino responded with a power-play strike at the 9:00 mark to cut the deficit to 3-2 entering the third period.

Christina Zalewski made it 4-2 with 12:51 to play and the Huskies added two more in the waning moments to conclude the scoring.

BU will host either Vermont or New Hampshire in a best-of-three Hockey East quarterfinal series at Walter Brown Arena set to begin Friday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m.
