CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - After collecting a pair of singles victories against ranked teams, Boston University women's tennis junior Barbara Rodriguez has been named the Patriot League Corvias Female Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
With the announcement, Rodriguez becomes the third Terrier to be recognized this season, joining senior Johanna Hyoty (3x) and sophomore Iryna Kostirko (2x).
She claimed her first-career weekly honor by defeating No. 68 Brown’s Katie Ta and No. 71 Old Dominion’s Natalya Malenko. After dropping the first set to Ta at No. 5 singles, Rodriguez came back to take the next two, winning the final in a tiebreak 2-6, 6-3, 10-8. Shen then earned a straight-set victory 6-4, 6-4 at the sixth flight against Malenko.
The Terriers will next be in action at home on Thursday (March 24) at 3 p.m. when they host UConn.
