Quinnipiac Defeats Men's Tennis, 6-1

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. - Continuing a seven-match road trip, the Boston University men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at Quinnipiac on Saturday evening.
Despite the final margin, the match was closely contested, as the Bobcats (6-3) were two singles tiebreakers and a doubles win away from falling to the Terriers (4-4).
Junior Mario Sandoval and freshman Satyajit Simhadri claimed a 7-6(6) win at No. 3 doubles, but Quinnipiac pulled out the doubles point by posting a combined score of 12-5 in the top two slots.
Junior Jay Leelavanich led the Terriers in singles with a 4-6, 6-2, 10-4 victory in the top slot against former MAAC Rookie of the Year and 2015 All-MAAC Second Team honoree Kei Ezaka.
Classmate Jake De Vries rallied from a set down to force a tiebreaker but came up just short at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 3-6, 10-5. Simhadri also won a set before dropping a 5-7, 6-3, 10-7 decision in the No. 5 slot.
The Bobcats captured the other three singles points at lines 2-4 in straight sets.
BU will next fly to South Carolina for three spring break matches, starting at Francis Marion on Tuesday (March 8) with action slated to begin at 2 p.m.
