Lachapelle Named U.S. Under-18 Assistant Coach

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - Boston University assistant women's ice hockey coach Katie Lachapelle will once again serve as an assistant coach of the U.S. Women's Under-18 Team, as announced by USA Hockey.

This will be the fourth season in which Lachapelle will be an assistant coach with the squad. She helped guide Team USA to consecutive gold medals at the IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship in 2015 and 2016 and also claimed silver in 2014. She is currently in Calgary with the team as they get set to face Canada in a three-game series that begins on Aug. 18.

In her eight seasons at BU, Lachapelle has helped lead the Terriers to five Hockey East titles, two WHEA regular-season crowns and a pair of NCAA championship game appearances. A BU blue liner has been recognized as a Hockey East First, Second or Honorable Meniton All-Star in each season she has been behind the BU bench, with two (Kasey Boucher, Catherine Ward) taking home Best Defenseman honors from the league.
