September 26, 2016 | Men's Soccer
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – After helping lead the Boston University men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Brown and a 1-1 draw at Bucknell, senior Matt Gilbert and junior Anthony Viteri have earned Patriot League weekly honors, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Before opening League play, the Corvias Goalkeeper of the Week Gilbert recorded five saves to help BU shut out Brown to snap an eight-game winless streak in the series. The senior then made a career-high 10 saves to preserve the 1-1 tie at Bucknell.
Previously named Midfielder of the Week, Viteri was tabbed the Corvias Offensive Player of the Week after adding an insurance goal against Brown with a hard shot toward the right post. Down 1-0 with less than 17 minutes left in the Patriot League opener against the Bison, he scored the equalizer to help the Terriers earn one point in the standings.
The Terriers (3-2-1, 0-0-1 PL) will next visit local rival Harvard on Tuesday (Sept. 27) at 7 p.m.
