CALGARY, Alta. - Juniors Victoria Bach and Rebecca Leslie will join five former Boston University women's ice hockey players at Hockey Canada's National Women's Team Fall Festival, which will take place Sept. 11-18 in Calgary.
Bach and Leslie are part of a 44-player squad that includes Olympic gold medalists Marie-Philip Poulin, Jenn Wakefield and Tara Watchorn. Former Terriers Jenelle Kohanchuk and Sarah Lefort were also part of the elite group of skaters chosen to take part in the festival. While there, the playerrs will take to the ice on two teams, Red and White, over the seven-day camp that will feature eight games along with practices.
Bach and Leslie were both most recently on Canada's National Development Team that competed in a three-game series with the United States in August. Both players finished the series with one goal and two assists apiece. Poulin, Wakefield and Watchorn were most recently on the silver-medal winning squad at the 2016 IIHF Women's World Championship, while Lefort joined the trio at the 2015 Four Nations Cup.
BU is the only Hockey East school that will be represented by current players at the festival. The Terriers will open their 2016-17 season with an exhibition contest against Whitby on Sept. 24 at 3 p.m.
