Terriers Open New Year with 7-0 Sweeps over Siena and SNHU

BOSTON - The Boston University started its five-match homestand with a doubleheader sweep, featuring 7-0 wins over Siena and Southern New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon at the Track & Tennis Center.

The Terriers (2-0) won two of three doubles matches against SNHU (5-1) by identical scores of 6-2 for a 1-0 advantage. They then claimed all six singles points, including four in straight sets, for the morning victory.

Senior Jake De Vries rebounded from a 6-2 loss at No. 2 doubles with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles, and doubles teammate freshman Marc Sable dropped the fewest games of any Terrier at No. 3 for the 6-2, 6-1 victory.

Later in the afternoon, BU hosted the Saints (2-2) for the first time since 2009. The Terriers again coasted to the doubles point by a combined score of 18-5.

They then coasted in singles action by winning all six points in straight sets. Senior Mario Sandoval led the way at No. 5 slot by dropping just two games in a 6-1, 6-1 victory.

BU will remain at home and next host Quinnipiac on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 3 p.m.
