With the win, BU has clinched the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League tournament and will host a quarterfinal game on Tuesday, Oct. 31 against sixth-seeded Lafayette.
How it Happened
- After a quiet start to the game, Carty started a scoring flurry in the 27th minute. With Rachel Bloznalis taking a free kick, Carty slipped past Colgate's backline and struck a left-footed one-timer into the back of the net to put the Terriers on the board.
- Less than two minutes later, Carty found the back of the net again to give BU a two-goal edge. Working off a corner kick, BU peppered the ball around the box before McKenna Doyle sent a header towards the goal.
- Carty crashed in towards the goal and extended her leg to get enough of the ball and guided it past the goal line.
- Colgate had its turn at breaching the scoreboard just over a minute later, as Abby Sotomayor took advantage of a defensive lapse to put the Raiders within one.
- Chelsea Churchill provided the exclamation point on the day with just over five minutes left, bending a shot from right corner of the 18-yard box that tucked inside the top left post for her first score of the season.
- Hannah Ciolek, Christina Wakefield, Hannah Wilcox, Erin Neville, Alivya Wimmer, Jesse Shreck, Jacki Carty and Rachel Bloznalis were honored before the start of the game.
- Each Terrier goal involved at least one senior, as Carty notched the first two goals, while Bloznalis and Neville each dished an assist.
- Bloznalis tallied two assists for her first career multi-assist game.
- The Terriers improved to 7-0-1 all-time against Colgate and extended their win streak over the Raiders to five.
- The Terriers will host a Patriot League tournament quarterfinal game at Nickerson Field on Tuesday, Oct. 31 against Lafayette.
- BU came out on top, 3-0, in its regular season matchup in Easton against the Leopards. Jesse Shreck, Anna Heilferty and Shannon Keefe provided the scores for the Terriers.
- Tuesday's contest will mark the first time BU will play Lafayette in the postseason as well as the first time the Terriers will play in a Patriot League tournament quarterfinal game.
