Carty's Header Advances Terriers to Patriot League Tournament Semifinals

BOSTON – Hosting Lafayette in a Patriot League tournament quarterfinal match, Jacki Carty's header in the 75th minute proved to be the game-winning goal as the Boston University women's soccer topped Lafayette, 1-0, Tuesday night at Nickerson Field.
With the win, the Terriers will head to Annapolis, Maryland for the Patriot League tournament semifinals. BU will meet up with second-seeded Bucknell on Friday, Nov. 3 with kickoff slated for 7:35 p.m.

- Carty nearly got on the board in the 15th minute, heading a feed from Rachel Bloznalis that just missed landing on goal.
- Jesse Shreck just missed the frame 19th minute, striking a one-timer from Kelly Harris that went wide right.
- Harris nearly got on on the board herself in the 38th minute, deking a defender at the backline and cutting back towards the center of the box before firing a shot that landed right in the hands of Lafayette's keeper.
- The Leopards were held at bay by the Terrier defense throughout the game, though Lafayette missed a point-blank chance in the 64th minute, firing a breakaway shot directly at Amanda Fay.
- On BU's ninth corner kick of the game, Anna Heilferty sent a ball towards the center of the box, where Carty snapped the ball inside the left post to give the Terriers the lead.
- Carty has netted three goals in the last two games.
- With her third assist of the season, Heilferty moved into a tie for the team lead in points (13) with Christina Wakefield.
- BU held an 11-0 corner kick advantage and a 21-6 command in shots against the Leopards.
- The Terriers won their first-ever Patriot League tournament quarterfinal game and their first postseason game against the Leopards.
- BU is now 8-1-1 all-time in Patriot League tournament games.
- The Terriers shut out Lafayette for the second time this season and recorded their ninth clean sheet.
