Sam Ryan Earns PL Midfielder, Rookie of the Week Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Boston University women's soccer freshman Sam Ryan has been selected as the Patriot League Midfielder and Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.

Ryan is the second Terrier to capture a weekly award this season, joining junior Jaiden Schultz's Forward of the Week accolade from Aug. 17. She is the first Terrier to be named Rookie of the Week since teammate Georgia Prouty from Sept. 8, 2025 and the first to collect multiple awards in the same week since Bridget Carr was the Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week on Oct. 21, 2024.

Providing the heroics in BU's 1-0 victory at Loyola Maryland on Sept. 26, Ryan supplied the match's lone goal in the 62nd minute, collecting a flick from senior Kat Slott and burying the ball in the upper-left corner from 15 yards away.

In her freshman campaign, Ryan has scored two goals, tied for fourth-most on the team. She is one of four Terriers who has started every match this season and is second on the team with 911 minutes played.

BU returns home to host Army West Point on Sept. 30 at 6 p.m.
