BOSTON – Embarking on its first road trip of the season, the Boston University men's basketball team will face four-time national champion UConn at the XL Center in Hartford with tip-off slated for 6 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • The Terriers' first five scheduled Division I opponents are former conference rivals with four from the America East (Northeastern, Albany, Maine and New Hampshire) and UConn from the Yankee Conference during the 1970s.
  • The Terriers have lost seven straight non-conference road games with their last victory occurring at Quinnipiac (64-57) on Dec. 13, 2015.
  • BU opened with home losses to both the Huskies (65-59) and Great Danes (88-74) ... The results marked the first time the Terriers started a season with two losses since opening 0-5 in 2012-13 .... The 2012-13 squad also featured two freshmen in the staring lineup in the season opener and went 17-8 the rest of the year en route to the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.
  • Senior Nick Havener leads BU in scoring at 13.5 ppg after posting a career-high 19 points on Monday against Albany, while freshman Javante McCoy and sophomore Max Mahoney are tied at 11.0 ppg.
  • Averaging 9.0 ppg, senior Cedric Hankerson is five points away from becoming the 36th Terrier to reach the 1,000-point milestone.
  • Through two games, McCoy leads BU with six assists, while sophomore Destin Barnes has eight rebounds, highlighted by a career-high seven boards against Albany.
  • BU is shooting 42.6 percent from the field, 29.5 percent in 3-point territory and 59.3 percent at the charity stripe, while opponents are averaging 49.1 FG%, 32.0 3FG% and 77.4 FT%.
SCOUTING UCONN
  • The Huskies already own one win against the Patriot League with a 70-58 victory over Colgate at Gampel Pavilion ... They followed up with a 72-64 win against Stony Brook at the XL Center this past Tuesday.
  • UConn went 16-17 last season with a 9-9 record in the American Athletic Conference ... The Huskies last won the AAC tournament in 2016 and last won the national title in 2014. 
  • 6-foot-8 forward and VCU transfer Terry Larrier leads UConn in scoring at 19.5 ppg with 6-foot-3 guard Jalen Adams just behind at 19.0 ppg.
  • 6-foot-9 forwards Eric Cobb and David Onourah are averaging 7.5 rpg and 7.0 rpg, respectively.
  • UConn is shooting 43.6 percent while holding opponents to 39.1 percent.

SERIES HISTORY

  • UConn owns a 43-12 advantage in an all-time series that dates back to 1930 but is only facing BU for the 5th time since 1990 NCAA 1st Rd. matchup ... Both programs were members of the Yankee Conference during the mid-1970s. 
  • Both teams shot under 33 FG% last season at the XL Center with the Huskies prevailing, 51-49 ... The Terriers only return 15 points from that game.
  • BU last beat UConn at home in 1986 during Calhoun's 1st season ... Men's Hockey defeated UConn, 2-1, in the XL Center back on Oct. 21.
  • BU is seeking its first win over the American Athletic Conference since winning at South Florida (78-66) on Nov. 21, 2015.
