BOSTON - The men's and women's track & field teams will conclude their indoor season at the TTC when they host the BU Last Chance Meet on Sunday, the final day of the season for athletes to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Student-athletes competing will need to finish with one of the top 16 results in the country in a given event to qualify for nationals and several Terriers will enter the day with hopes of making the final cut.
On the men's side, seniors Cam Williams (200m) and Daivd Oluwadara (triple jump) already have performances that rank among the top 16 in the country. Williams broke his own school record in the 200m dash at the Patriot League Championships last weekend with a time of 20.57, which currently stand as the fourth-fastest time in the country.
Oluwadara broke his own school record in the triple jump at The Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational on Feb. 4th with a leap of 16.07m (52' 8.75") which is tied for ninth best in the nation this year.
Although both Williams and Oluwadara have qualifying performances to date, both will be in action on Sunday.
Senior Ethan Homan will be competing in the 800m run on Sunday. His best time in the event is 1:48.71 and he will look to post a time of at least 1:47.90 or better to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Freshman Paul Luevano will compete in the 5000m run for the first time this indoor season. Luevano will be looking for one of the 16-best times in the nation in the event which currently stands at 13:49.00.
For the women, PL Field Athlete of the Year Lovie Burleson will compete in two events, the triple jump and the long jump. Burleson won gold in the triple jump with a 12.56m (41' 2.50") effort, which was the 54th longest jump in the nation this year. She also won gold in the long jump at the PL Championships with a jump of 5.84m (19' 2").
The 2017 NCAA Div. I Indoor Track & Field Championships begin on March 10 at Texas A&M, College Station, Tex.
