Terriers Suffer First Patriot League Loss at Army, 4-2

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Despite capturing the doubles point, the Boston University women's tennis team was unable to keep pace with Army West Point and eventually fell, 4-2, on Saturday morning at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.

By handing the three-time defending Patriot League champion Terriers their first conference loss since BU joined the league in the summer of 2013, the former 14-time PL champion Black Knights will enter the upcoming conference tournament as the No. 1 seed.

MATCH NOTES

Senior Madison Craft and sophomore Sophia Kryloff claimed a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles, while senior Barbara Rodriguez and sophomore Remi Ramos claimed a 6-4 victory in the No. 1 slot to give BU the 1-0 lead.
Ramos dropped just one game in a dominating 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles, but that would be the Terriers' only win.
The Black Knights claimed straight-set wins against sophomore Sabrina Faybyshev (#4), Craft (#5) and freshman Clara Falxa (#6) to grab a 3-2 lead.
Army held off a late rally from Rodriguez to pull out a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win at line 2.
Junior Iryna Kostirko was in a three-set deadlock when her match was halted.

The Terriers will be the No. 2 seed for the second time in three years when they head to Navy for the Patriot League tournament, which will take place on Friday, April 28 - Sunday, April 30.
