BOSTON – Despite holding a 25-1 shot advantage, Marquette made its lone shot count as it topped the Boston University women's soccer team, 1-0, Friday night at Nickerson Field.
The Terriers controlled the tempo and possession for the majority of the game, though the Golden Eagles scored the game-winning goal in the 22nd minute on a one-timer just inside the six-yard box. BU also held an 11-0 advantage in corner kicks and tallied seven shots on frame.

How it Happened
- BU came storming out of the gates, applying heavy pressure in the Golden Eagle's defensive third and piled on seven shots during the opening 20-minute stretch.
- Working in transition, Marquette cashed in on its lone shot of the game, sending in a sliding one-timer just inside the six-yard box on a cross from 20 yards out on the left side.
- Erin Neville nearly tied the game up in the 66th minute, blasting a shot from well outside the box that banged off the crossbar. Kiana Ghamarifard followed with a rebound right in front of the net that was blocked.
- None of BU's shots for the remainder of the game would make it on frame, as four of its last six shots were blocked.
- BU held a 13-1 shot advantage at the half, matching its previous season high for shots in a game.
- McKenna Doyle led the Terriers with four shots, while Anna Heilferty, Neville and Alivya Wimmer each roped three shots apiece.
- Marquette improved to 2-0 against the Terriers and ran its shutout streak to six games.
- The Terriers showed marked improved from its previous matchup with the Golden Eagles, as Marquette held a 16-9 shot advantage and 10-2 command in corner kicks in the 2015 series debut.
- The Terriers will travel to Boston College for a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday, Sept. 10.
- BU will look for its first win in Chestnut Hill since 2004.
