October 11, 2018 | Men's Ice Hockey
On Monday in Boston, Brady Tkachuk became the 83rd former Boston University standout to play in the National Hockey League when he made his debut for the Ottawa Senators against the Boston Bruins.
After missing the first two games of the season due to a minor injury, Tkachuk made the trip to Boston with the Senators and practiced at Agganis Arena on Sunday. He then made his debut the following night to form the second BU father-son duo to reach the NHL. His father, Keith, played one season (1990-91) for the Terriers before embarking on an impressive 18-season NHL career. The first BU father-son duo to become NHLers was Tom and Danny O'Regan.
On Wednesday, Tkachuk had a home debut to remember, scoring the first three points of his career, including a pair of goals, against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Tkachuk was picked fourth overall in the 2018 NHL Draft by the Senators following a freshman season at BU in which he tallied 31 points on eight goals and a team-best 23 assists.
