Navy Rallies to Defeat Men's Soccer, 2-1
October 20, 2018 | Men's Soccer
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – After senior Adam Wright headed in his first-career collegiate goal off a cross from sophomore Toti Knutsson, Navy struck twice in the final 20 minutes of regulation to defeat the Boston University men's soccer team, 2-1, on Saturday night at the GlennWarner Facility.
The come-from-behind win helped the Midshipmen (2-11-1, 1-5-0 PL) snap a four-game losing streak to the Terriers (3-9-3, 2-3-1 PL), who dropped their fifth one-goal decision of the season.

The come-from-behind win helped the Midshipmen (2-11-1, 1-5-0 PL) snap a four-game losing streak to the Terriers (3-9-3, 2-3-1 PL), who dropped their fifth one-goal decision of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams went to the locker room at the half in a 0-0 deadlock with a 2-2 tie in shot attempts despite BU owning a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.
- Wright put BU on the scoreboard first in the 51st minute by heading in Knutsson's cross from the right wing at the top of the six-yard box.
- Navy went on the attack afterwards, attempting the game's next six shot attempts with Bayne Bentley netting the equalizer at 70:36.
- Shortly thereafter, the Mids fended off shot attempts from freshman John Siracuse and junior Satchel Cortet along with the Terriers' seventh corner of the night to keep the game tied, 1-1.
- Jacob Williams put Navy ahead for good at 84:40 by banking his shot attempt off the post with assistance from Wyatt Millard.
- Tyler Fahning saved another shot from Siracuse at 85:59 to preserve the one-goal victory.

- Knutsson grabbed the team lead for assists with his fourth helper and is now fifth on the team with four points.
- Both senior Mike Bernardi and Fahning had three saves apiece, as Navy finished with a 12-8 advantage in shots despite BU tallying four more corners (7-3).
- The Terriers are now 4-2-0 all-time against the Mids.
- The Terriers will return to Nickerson Field for the final two home games of the regular season, starting on Wednesday (Oct. 24) against the Black Knights.
- With three conference games left, Army currently owns the sixth and final PL tournament spot with nine points in the standings, two ahead of the Terriers.
- BU is 6-2-1 against the Black Knights under head coach Neil Roberts and is currently riding a five-game unbeaten streak with four wins by a combined score of 7-1 and a 1-1 draw.
- BU last year claimed a 3-1 road victory following a 1-0 win in 2016 at Nickerson Field.
