Fabbro Named to Team Canada's Roster for 2018 Spengler Cup
December 20, 2018 | Men's Ice Hockey
Junior defenseman Dante Fabbro of the Boston University men's ice hockey team has been named to Team Canada's roster for the 2018 Spengler Cup, which will be held Dec. 26-31 in Davos, Switzerland.
This marks the second straight year that a Terrier blueliner will play for his country at the world's oldest invitational ice hockey tournament as Brandon Hickey helped Canada win its 15th Spengler title last winter.
Fabbro is one of only two current NCAA players on this year's roster as he joins Western Michigan forward Colt Conrad. The Terrier co-captain entered the semester break with a team-high 13 points on three goals and 10 assists. He has played in 90 career games at BU, totaling 60 points (18g 42a).
This will be the fifth time that Fabbro will represent Canada at a tournament, as he participated in the past two World Juniors in addition to the 2016 U18 World Championship and the 2015 World Junior A Challenge (Canada West).
Fabbro became the first Terrier to win both a gold (2018) and a silver (2017) at World Juniors and was an assistant captain for last year's title-winning squad. He recorded eight assists in seven games at the 2016 U18 tournament and led all defensemen in assists for Team Canada West at the 2015 World Junior "A" Challenge.
